This all-purpose crust works well for most pies, tarts and turnovers.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup

Method

Sift the flour and salt into the bowl of an electric mixer. Add the lard and mix with a pastry paddle at low speed until the mixture is the consistency of fine cornmeal.

In a medium bowl, whisk the egg and milk and pour into the flour mixture. Increase the speed and mix until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Divide the dough into 3 equal pieces and wrap
