Strisce are wide ribbon noodles ideal for this thick soup that is more like noodles with a chickpea sauce.

Ingredients

  • 14 oz/400 g dried chickpeas (soaked for 10 hrs, water discarded)
  • 4 oz/10

Method

Put the chickpeas in a deep saucepan with the garlic and pepper. Add enough water to cover plus one inch. Cover and cook slowly on a low heat for 3 hours. When tender remove the chickpeas, saving the liquid, and put all but 6 tablespoons of the chickpeas through a food processor or vegetable mill wi
