This recipe is not traditionally Greek but it is the result of eating a fabulous Greek creamy cheese called manouri with some dried figs seasoned with bay leaves and black pepper. The combined flavors were so magical together I decided to use them as inspiration for this cheesecake. If you can find manouri cheese you may use that in combination with the cream cheese. If you can’t find dried Mission figs, use the Greek imported calimyrna figs for the accompanying compote.
