Ingredients

  • 3 kg (6 lb 12 oz) mussels
  • dozens of pine needles that the children have gath

Method

Arrange the mussels in a large pan (like a paella pan), with the pointed (hinge) end upwards—when the mussel opens, it mustn’t fill with ash. Cover generously with very dry pine needles, shoo the children back to a safe distance, light the needles, wait for the mussels to open.
