The name of this rustic almond and semolina cake is inspired by the rustic bread prepared in Abruzzese households back in the day. In fact, the local dialect was called pane rozzo (rustic bread), and over time became parrozzo. Even in Italy, outside of Abruzzo, many people would not know what this is, probably because parrozzo is a traditional Christmas cake, and it is often overshadowed by the more famous panettone and pandoro.
