Adding egg to a basic white loaf gives a richer flavour and creamier crumb, as well as a wonderfully golden finish to the crust.
Put the egg(s) in a measuring jug (cup) and add sufficient water to give 240ml/8½fl oz/generous 1 cup, 300ml/10½fl oz/1⅓ cups or 385ml/13½fl oz/1⅝ cups, according to the size of loaf selected.
