There’s something very satisfying about the shape of a cottage loaf, and the flavour of fresh herbs — chives, thyme, tarragon and parsley — adds to the appeal. This loaf makes the perfect centrepiece for the table, for guests to help themselves.

Method

  1. Pour the water into the bread machine pan. If the operating instructions for your bread machine specify that the yeast is to be placed in the pan first, then simply reverse the order in which you add the water and dry ingredients.
