The distinctive flavour of fennel is the perfect foil for the more subtle carrot taste in this unusual bread. It looks pretty when sliced, thanks to the attractive orange flecks of carrot.

  • 180 ml/ fl oz/generous ¾ cup water

Method

  1. Pour the water, oil and honey into the bread machine pan. Sprinkle over the grated carrot. If the instructions for your machine specify that the yeast is to be placed in the pan first, reverse the order in which you add the liquid and dry ingredients.
