Inspired by Lindsay’s Grandma Bettie’s recipe, this twist on a soda-fountain favorite infuses classic hot fudge sauce with pure maple syrup. It’s great served warm over ice cream or pancakes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tab

Method

  1. Sift together sugar, cocoa powder, flour, and salt in a medium saucepan. Whisk in 1 cup boiling water, maple syrup, and butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat, whisking occasionally; simmer for 7 to 8 minutes, or until thickened slightly and reduced by half.
  2. Remove from heat and transfer to a heatproof bowl; stir in vanilla and maple extracts. Let cool to roo
