In a heatproof bowl set over but not touching barely simmering water in a saucepan, combine the hot water, chocolate, confectioners’ sugar, butter, vanilla, and salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the chocolate and butter are melted, 2-3 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir until smooth and well blended. Use right away.
