Ginger Ale

The interchangeability of the generic names ‘beer’ and ‘ale’ can be bewildering, but stick the word ‘ginger’ in front of either and confusion multiplies to the extent of not even knowing if you’re dealing with booze or a soft drink. All you need to know about this recipe is that (a) it’s a proper beer with malt, hops, alcohol and a burst of ginger, and (b) it’s terrifically tasty. Think of it as a decent pint of bitter with a warming tickle of gingery spice, then sit back, take a large swig
