Plump, ripe blackcurrants are a treat. If you grow your own, they deserve nothing more than having their sharp, fruity essence preserved in alcohol. And if that isn’t good enough for them, the resulting liqueur can be used to make one of the simplest but greatest cocktails around: Kir Royale.
