Chicken soup is a favourite the world over in all its various forms and combinations, but this recipe is for the classic Jewish version with added matzo dumplings. Traditionally eaten on the Sabbath and well known for being ‘Jewish penicillin’, it would slip down the sorest throat and is both wonderfully tasty and extremely nourishing. You can of course leave out the dumplings for a lighter meal, but I don’t recommend it - they soak up all the flavours of the soup and become dense and savou
