Variations of this salad are served on small metal plates with your meal in all the Bangladeshi cafés of Brick Lane. Eat it with kebabs, roasted meats and curries, as it pairs perfectly with anything spicy. Mix everything just before serving, to prevent wilting.
Place the onion in a bowl, add the salt and mix well with a wooden spoon or by hand. Set aside while you prep the other ingredients. Add the cucumber, tomato, lemon juice and chilli and combine. Just before serving, mix in the chopped coriander and mint sauce.
