Making focaccia is easier than you might think; it doesn’t require fiddly shaping or anything too precious, and it can be easily made at home by first-timers. I make this with sourdough starter but you can also use fast-action dried yeast.

It’s absolutely delicious served as a sandwich or just on its own with some good-quality olive oil on the side to dunk in.
