This family favorite disappears quickly. It’s versatile—you can assemble all of the ingredients at camp or at home (and have less bowls to wash at camp). Separate each uncooked patty with a piece of parchment paper or clear plastic wrap before freezing. Patties can get tough if overcooked during reheating, so use low heat.

Ingredients

  • Canola oil or cooking spray
  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • ½ small apple, finely chopped, or <

Method

Prep at Home

Combine ground turkey, apple, oats, chilies, egg, sage, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Shape mixture into 12 patties. If freezing raw, place parchment paper or clear plastic wrap between each one to avoid sticking when thawed.

If cooking ahead, heat oil or cooking spray in a nonstick skillet. Cook sausages, in batches, 2 to 3 minutes
