Lemon Honey Turkey Cutlets

At first glance, most of the ingredients in this recipe may seem more western than eastern but the lemon sauce is a creation inspired by the classic lemon chicken dish found in many Chinese takeouts and restaurants. This recipe is delicious, healthy and satisfying. You’ll enjoy serving it time and time again.

  • 2 turkey cutlets
  • sprig of rosemary, freshly chopped
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • ½ cup dried breadcrumbs
  • 4 tablespoons peanut oil
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper

For the Lemon Sauce

  • juice of 2 lemons
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch blended with 2 teaspoons water


  1. Season the cutlets with salt and pepper and sprinkle with rosemary. Coat each cutlet first in flour, then in egg and finally in breadcrumbs.
  2. Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add the oil. Fry the cutlets for 10 minutes, turning once.
  3. Put the lemon juice, honey and cinnamon in a small pan and bring to the boil. Stir in the blended cornstarch to thicken the sauce.
  4. Serve the cutlets on blanched green beans with the lemon honey sauce drizzled over.
