An easy dessert that is delicious and refreshing after a heavy supper. I regularly make this dessert because it’s fast, unfussy and simple to make, especially for a crowd. It is a firm favorite with children, too (minus the alcohol). Lychees and mangoes pair very well and the Grand Marnier adds a special flavor.

Ingredients

  • 14 oz pound cake, ready bought
  • 1 can lychees, drained unless you are not using liqueur

Method

  1. Slice the pound cake and fit it in the bottom of a trifle dish or large glass bowl. Top with a layer of lychees and mangoes over the cake and add a drizzle of Grand Marnier or some juice from the lychee can. Add another layer of cake, more Grand Marnier or juice and more fruit. Top with a layer of custard.
