The lettuce is washed in cold water and well dried. Sprinkle freely with salt and let it stand in a cold place for ½ an hour. Put in a salad bowl and pour the following dressing over it: Pound the yolks of 2 hard-boiled eggs, season with 1 teaspoon of sugar, a good pinch of salt, and a little pepper. Mix with 1 tablespoon of vinegar and add 1 gill of sour cream gradually, stirring continuously. Lastly, mix in 1 teaspoon of chopped fennel and add a few slices of cucumber.
