Fry the sliced onions in the hot butter to a golden brown, remove from the pan when done and set aside. Add all the condiments and mix and stir thoroughly. Then add the pieces of chicken and fry to a rich brown. Chop the fried onion, add to the chicken and add the cup of hot water. Simmer for 1 hour or more, according to the size of the chicken, till very tender and till the sauce is greatly reduced.
