Treacle tart

Treacle tart is an easy and much-loved pudding for which, in an emergency, you are always likely to have everything to hand. I usually make mine as an open tart, hut you can make a slightly different version, making it into a lidded pie. In Yorkshire they add grated apples, the grated rind and juice of a lemon and dried fruit, hut I’m a purist when it comes to this ultimate comfort food.
