The great classic Italian soup! It means “big soup” in the sense that it is designed to fill you up and make you feel fully satisfied. It differs from, and should not be confused with, the other great classic: Pasta e Fagioli, a version of which appears, with only slight variations, in almost every region of Italy. Minestrone, on the other hand, is originally a soup from Lombardy.
