I find this dish immensely comforting and if the beef used is tasty, it can be a really memorable dish. This is another one of those dishes that has a thousand different versions of the same basic recipe and which also tastes better eaten a day later, when the meat has had a chance to absorb the flavours of all the other ingredients. It is also good made with thin pork steaks.
