This has always been one of my favourite ice creams, with its interesting granular texture and nutty flavours. It’s essential, I think, to caramelize the breadcrumbs. It may sound unduly pernickety, but the better the bread the better the breadcrumbs. You could serve a strawberry, raspberry or chocolate sauce, white or dark, with this, but it doesn’t really need it.
