Marinated Figs

We can’t all be lucky enough to eat figs straight from the tree, as I could in my south London garden. This rather pleasant experience was mitigated by the small production, which in a good year would supply about enough for this pudding. Look for figs which are purple-black in colour. They have a long season in southern Europe so should be easily available throughout the summer.
