Garlic toasts, really, which in the Bull household seem to appear at weekends around 7 p.m. I think these arrived – evolved is hardly the word – when there was nothing else in the fridge one day and something had to be eaten right now. You need granary baguettes if you can find them, but any good granary or white bread will do, as long as it’s not sliced. It should be a bit stale.
