Ingredients: 50 g ground almonds; 1 teaspoon mixed spice; 125 ml whisky, or spirit of your choice, plus extra to feed; 130 g plain flour; 250 g sultanas; ½ teaspoon baking powder; 250 g currants; 125 g butter, softened; Grated zest of 1 lemon; 125 g muscovado sugar; 25 g crystallized ginger, chopped; 50 g whole almonds, chopped; 4 eggs, beaten; 100 g dried figs, roughly chopped; 100 g mixed peel; 100 g glacé cherries, cut in half
