The best way of serving buffalo mozzarella as a starter is to combine it with ripe tomatoes, good olive oil and fresh basil. This is often called insalata caprese.
Arrange the slices of mozzarella on a plate, alternating them with the slices of tomatoes and basil leaves.
Pour over a little stream of olive oil, then season with salt and pepper.
