This dessert harks back to the French occupation of the area. Finding a mould to make a large baba in the shape of Vesuvius was quite difficult. This symbol of Naples could also be made using any conical container. Of course, you could make it in any shape and ovenproof container you choose. Babas are traditionally made in ring moulds and served filled with fruits in syrup.
