Fry the onion in butter until brown and crisp. Remove from the butter and drain thoroughly. Add the mushrooms to the remaining butter, cook lightly and drain. Add the onion, mushroom and peas to rice, and cool. Make a loose ring with the rice mixture around the edge of a dish, decorate with slices of pimento and serve the slices of beef in the centre.
