  • About

This dish is deceptively mild-tasting. But unlike the nursery version of prunes and custard, too much of it can make you drunk!

Ingredients

  • 225 g/8 oz prunes (the squashy, quick-cooking kind)
  • about 300 ml/½

Method

Put the prunes, tightly packed, into a glass jar. Pour over the port to almost submerge the prunes. Leave for several days, or even for several weeks if in a cool place, until the prunes have plumped up and absorbed the port.

Serve with egg custard.
