Reshteh-ye khoskar/katai are a popular street snack in Gilan. Associated with Ramadan (the month of fasting), they are served as a dessert for the eftar (breaking the fast) dinner. Variations of these pancakes, kunefeh made with kataif/spun pastry are mentioned in the One Thousand and One Nights stories and fifteenth-century a Turkish/Persian dictionary. Locals generally buy them ready-made in the market and just before serving, cook them in a little butter, driz
