  • About

The fruit of the Cornelian cherry (foreground in the photo opposite shows a dried tray of the them) is red and oblong and has medicinal properties. This chutney/khams-e akhteh is a sticky, sweet and sour paste eaten as a snack in a similar way to a fruit roll-up. It is wrapped in paper and sold by street vendors around the Caspian. Kids eat them with their fingers.
