Halva means “sweet.” In Iran it refers to wheat (or rice) flour lightly caramelized in oil, butter, or ghee and blended in a syrup of sugar, honey, or grape or date molasses, to create a sweet soft paste. In the West “halva” refers to tahini paste, which in Iran is called “halvardeh.” Ardeh is the Persian term for sesame paste. This halva is made with grape molasses instead of sugar. Besides being healthy and nutritious, it’s also delicious.
