In Kerman, this dish is served as a dessert or with afternoon tea. Most Kermanis have fond childhood memories of it. Traditionally, the paste is kneaded with your fingertips (which is what changmal means in Persian) and spread on a serving platter and pressed down in the form of a pie, then cut into diamond shapes (but I prefer it served in this way, see
