My son, Alexander, could live off this dish alone for the rest of his life. It’s a traditional summer dessert, although in Alexander’s case, it’s also breakfast at least twice a week … bring on summer!
To make the cold buttermilk soup, crack the egg, if using, into a large bowl, beat lightly, then add the sugar and vanilla seeds and stir well.
Next add the lemon zest and juice, stirring constantly. Then add the buttermilk and vanilla sugar, stir well, then put into the fridge to cool.
Once chilled, serve the buttermilk in deep bowls with lots of fresh kammerjunkere cook
