This is a nice, easy-to-assemble casserole dish, which can be frozen or merely refrigerated for a day or two before heating. If it is cooled and stored, remember to bring it to room temperature before heating in the oven. It is good served with a green salad and fruit. The recipe came to me from Louella Williams, a great Louisiana cook whose specialties are creole.
