Nonna Romana’s classic Easter bread from Puglia is my absolute favorite thing about Easter. A classic Pugliese scarcella, or gurrugulo, as they are called in Nonna’s hometown of Mola di Bari, are traditionally given to children for Easter. Usually, they are shaped into a braided ring and an egg is placed on top with a cross over it to symbolize fertility.
