Cardamom is to Swedish baked goods what cinnamon is to desserts in North America. In Sweden, you see cardamom in nearly every sugary treat. Here, the spice is kneaded into a sweet yeast dough braided around a cinnamon-flecked filling. Serve it as part of a company brunch.
Gently crack cardamom pods with side of a chef’s knife. Remove seeds and discard pods. In a mortar, spice grinder, or coffee mill reserved for spices, Crush with a pestle or grind to a coarse powder.
