Who wouldn’t love chewy chunks of chocolate chip cookie dough in every mouthful of creamy, homemade vanilla ice cream? Try it in a cone or in a deluxe sundae topped with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. Or try partnering it with piping hot apple turnovers.
Heat the sugar and water in a saucepan until the sugar dissolves. Add the butter and milk. Once the butter is melted, add the flour. Stir over the heat for five minutes. This process causes the starch granules in the flour to burst, which makes the dough thicken and gets rid of any floury taste.
