This small lahmacun or pizza-like dish is a specialty from Aleppo and Hama. It is mostly prepared for special occasions. This name may remind you of another dish from Damascus, Syria, and Gaziantep, Turkey. But those versions are sweets, rather than the savory, meat-topped specialty seen below. The process is fairly intensive — you’re making a laminated dough — so you may as well make a big batch while you’re at it. Bake half to eat now and freeze the rest to enjoy later.
