Alina comes from a well-known family of local winemakers. Their vineyard, Villa Tinta, has a shop in the city where visitors can sample wine as well as these prunes, which they soak in a dry red wine called Odesa Black. This is an amazing indigenous wine variety, which I hope will soon be available for people to try all over the world. In Odesa we normally serve these prunes at the beginning of a meal, but they also make a great dessert.
