This is the simplest icing of all, just icing (confectioners’) sugar mixed with water or juice. It can be coloured with food colouring. It cannot be piped, except for simple lines with a fine round piping nozzle, and has a more translucent finish than royal icing, but it is very quick and delicious, and easy for children to make.
