This recipe is a traditional one, served in both countries for Sunday lunch. I have eaten this classic combination of beef and dill sauce since I was little.
Put the beef joint in a large pan with 1.5 litres/2½ pints/6¼ cups water and crumble in the stock cube. Cook for 1 hour, or until tender. Remove from the broth and cut into 1cm/½in slices.
To make the sauce, melt the butter in another large pan, and add the flour. Cook for 3 minutes, stirring. Gradually ladle the beef broth into the flour mixture, stirring cons
