Oublies are paper-thin waffles or wafers that were popular at the banqueting table throughout the Middle Ages and up to the 19th century. Oublie and oblaten in German comes from the Latin oblatus for offering. Oblaten are Hosts for communion, also used as a base for marchpane (marzipan) in the Middle Ages and Lebkuchen in Nuremberg.
