Geutelingen

The geuteling is a thick pancake from the Flemish Ardennes. The batter is poured with a long ladle straight onto the red-hot tiles of a woodfired oven. In the past, families brought their own batter to a communal oven, where they baked geutelingen together. The demise of the geuteling came with the demise of the woodfired oven. But one village is keeping this heritage alive by baking large quantities of geutelingen every year. And much of that is thanks to Pieter de Koekelaere
