Peper-koeckxkens

This is a recipe from Het secreet-boek vol heerlijke konsten (1600) by Carolus Battus, town physician of Antwerp, and later Dordrecht when he and other Protestants had to flee Antwerp. A Secreetboeck or secreti, after the Italian original, contains secrets of nature (how thunder works) and recipes for daily life. These could be medicines for humans and animals, but also advice on cleaning, pest control, paint, preserving wine, jam-making and beauty treatments.
