Ingredients

Black sesame seeds 60 g, roasted and ground
Green tea powder 20 g
Sugar 35 g
Butter 40 g
Cooking oil for deep-frying

Glutinous rice dough

Glutinous rice flour 600 g
Wheat starch flour (dung meen fun) 115 g
Sugar 115 g
Lard 115 g
Green tea powder 1–2 Tbsp
Water 260 ml

Method

  • Cream ground black sesame seeds, green tea powder, sugar and butter together to form a paste. Set aside.
  • Combine dough ingredients to form a soft dough. Roll it out into a long cylinder and cut into 40 equal pieces.
  • Flatten each dough piece into a thin, round skin. Spoon some paste onto each skin and enclose filling. Roll into balls using both hands.
  • Heat oil and deep-fry until light brown. Remove and drain well.
