Dominika Buck remembers her first rurki z kremem easily and fondly. When she was a small child at the ballet school in Wrocław’s Plac Solny, she and the other students would run to a literal hole-in-the-wall after class, a one-door stand at the end of the building from which a woman sold whipped cream–filled waffles. Lines of small ballerinas, sometimes still in tutus, always with their hair in buns, waited with their pocket money until they got their reward for practicing.
