Omurice is a typical Yoshoku dish, a type of European-inspired Japanese cuisine. It usually takes the form of half a rugby ball, with ketchup-flavoured chicken rice wrapped in an omelette. Turning this into a donburi requires some adaptation, which actually makes it much easier to reproduce the same flavours.
